Renewable technology in recent years has become a massive market globally. With more awareness of the environmental changes, rising fuel costs, and a need to move away from fossil fuels, Tom Sutton Heating now provide alternative heating and hot water solutions. We now provide installation options for air source heat pumps, solar thermal hot water solutions, Solar PV systems and EV charging ports making us the perfect choice for helping you and your household go green.
WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU?
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
What Are Air Source Heat Pumps?
Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) absorb heat from the outside air. They’re affordable, environmentally friendly and are effective at heating appliances and water throughout your property. A well-installed air source heat pump will, on average, deliver four times as much energy as it consumes to operate – far better than traditional boilers, which consume more energy than they actually produce.

SOLAR HOT WATER
SOLAR HOT WATER
What is Solar Hot Water?
Solar water heating often referred to as ‘solar thermal’, involves using solar panels to absorb the heat of the sun and transfer it to the water you use in the home. On warm summer days, this can provide all of your hot water. During the winter the output will be much less.
Solar thermal technology works alongside conventional water heating systems. Heat absorbed by the panels is used to pre-heat the water in a hot water storage cylinder. This reduces the amount of fuel needed to bring the hot water up to a useable temperature, saving money on heating bills and reducing carbon emissions.
SOLAR PV
SOLAR PV
What is Solar PV?
Solar PV systems turn sunlight into electricity through the ‘solar cells’ they contain. These cells are made from thin layers of a ‘semiconductor’ material (traditionally silicon) between layers of glass. Electricity leaves the panel as direct current (DC) and passes through an inverter that converts it to 240V alternating current (AC) so that it can be used in your home. This electricity can then power any appliances that are switched on – washing machine, TV and so on – while the surplus (if there is any) is exported to the electricity grid, or stored in a battery if you have one.
ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING (EV)
ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING (EV)
EV CAR CHARGING INSTALLATIONS
Around 80% of all car charging is done at home, which means you’ll reap the benefits of a wallbox charger. You need to have a driveway or parking space where this can be installed, but it’s well worth doing for faster and safer charging. While the Government used to cover up to 75% (up to a maximum of £350) of the cost of having the fast-charging point installed, this incentive ended in March 2022, except for people renting a property or living in a leasehold flat.
Some car manufacturers will also supply you with a discounted or complimentary home fast-charging point with your electric car.
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP INSTALLTION
BENEFITS
- Less expensive to install than ground source
- Can often be used as a replacement for traditional gas or oil boilers
- Can provide heat all year round
- Can be used to heat pools as well as homes
- Grants available under the Boiler upgrade Scheme (Terms apply)
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Air source heat pump units work simply by gathering thermal energy from the air where it is positioned outside your property. It then transfers this thermal energy into the heat that is provided for your central heating and hot water.

WHAT IS THE BOILER UPGRADE SCHEME?
You may have heard about the boiler upgrade scheme, but what is it and how does it work?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government-backed financial incentive scheme designed to encourage UK homes to swap to renewable heating systems. From the 1st of April 2022 eligible homeowners can receive a government voucher to assist with the costs of installing renewable heating systems such as air source or ground source heat pumps.
Am I eligible?
Anyone who retrofits an air source or ground source heat pump in a single domestic property is eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, provided a recent EPC has no recommendations for further insulation, with some exemptions. Self-build properties are the only new-build installations that are eligible. To qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, your system needs to have been fitted by an installer who has the right training and accreditation under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) Luckily through our partners we can provide MCS registration, so you can trust our air source heat pump installers to install your new system.
